Another week and another month have flown by. August now and judging from the news the weather is still going to be a tad on the warm side. We did get some rain Sunday morning, enough to dampen the plants and the soil but not really enough to do any good. It did leave the rest of the day feeling really humid and muggy.
The veg garden is producing well, had our first swedes, although down here in Cornwall they are called turnips! In the US though they are called Rutabagas. Whatever you call them, they tasted great mashed up with carrot, a knob of butter and some pepper. The carrots are particularly good, very random looking as all homegrown carrots should do in my opinion. All the veg we have been eating this week has been from our garden and there is plenty more to come 🙂
Books I have read this week! I managed three, literally just finishing the 3rd one earlier this morning.
Lion by Conn Iggulden – this is an author who writes the most amazing historical fiction books. Lion is another fabulous read and was one I had on my summer reading list. Review to follow soon.
The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig – the first book I read by this author was Wanderers in 2019, it became my top read of that year. It has taken me too long to pick up The Book of Accidents and I have to say it was an amazing read. A mix of genres, mystery, horror, crime, thriller, psychological and all based around a family. Full review soon.
Alias Emma by Ava Glass – this is one I was invited to read via NetGalley and it was the cover that caught my eye. This is a crime, thriller and undercover police procedural. Another very enjoyable book and the full review will follow soon.
There we have it,
Just need to wish you all a great week ahead
Many thanks for reading my post, a like or share would be amazing 🙂 xx
