My Week In Books (w/e 13th June 2021) #lovebooks #bookupdates #MeAndMyBooks

Welcome to another weekly round up of books on this gorgeous sunny day (Sunday as I type this up!) I might just mention that it is rather warm lol there is no pleasing some people is there?

Just a flying visit as I want to get back out into the garden, I wasn’t able to do much through the week as we had mostly mizzle and drizzle! But it has done the world of good 🙂

Here are the books I have read…

When I requested The Wolf and The Woodsman by Ava Reid I hoped for a wonderful fantasy story. I am happy to say this is what I got, though it was more of a fairy tale/ fantasy/ coming of age one. In some respects this was better as it wasn’t a heavy as some fantasy novels can be so was great for really being able to relax with and read. This is one of my #20booksof summer, so I have kicked off my challenge.

I have read a couple of books by Shari Low so when I saw the Blog Tour invite for One Summer Sunrise I immediately signed up for it. A gorgeous, gorgeous story that covers one day in the lives of four women. I loved this book and how the author brought this story together. Keep an eye out for the tour and my review next week.

My 2nd #20booksof summer read is The Hotel at Honeymoon Station by Tilly Tennant. It’s a Tilly book, need I say more! Another fabulous book to sit and read as I followed the unlikely pairing of Emma and her friend Tia as they risk everything to buy, renovate and hopefully run the rundown hotel in the village of Honeymoon. Another fabulous read and one I adored. Oh, I should also mention that there are two rather hunky builders involved 🙂

I honestly don’t know how Louise Beech does it, but one again she has brought something very special to This Is How We Are Human. I have read an adored the other books I have read of hers and every time she leaves me with tears. Her writing is beautiful and so readable. She brings the story of Sebastian a man who has autism, his mother Veronica, who thinks she is doing the right thing and Violetta, an escort. If you have not read any of this authors books then you should, they are simply amazing. My full review is out next week.

There we have it, four books this week, I am currently reading This Fragile Earth by Susannah Wise. It ‘s arrival was perfectly timed to arrive. I finished my nightshift, went to bed for a couple of hours and then went downstairs to find a box on my doorstep. Inside was the book, a jar of honey, Lemon and Ginger Pukka Tea, a cute crocheted Bumble Bee and a hardback copy of the book. So not only did I have honey for my toast, a mug of tea but also this was my next book that I was going to read. Serendipitous or what!

Oh, I should mention that I am really enjoying this book! 🙂

All that leaves me to do, is wish you all a wonderful week ahead,

Happy Reading

Yvonne xx
