Welcome to another weekly round up of books I have read. I seem to be on a roll with blog posts this past couple of weeks. WordPress has informed me I am on a streak. I have been trying to catch up with reviews for books I have read a couple of months ago. So apparently I have been streaking for 15 days now! Now I know in the grand scheme of things this isn’t anything major, but for someone who prefers not to blog on weekends this is quite an achievement.

As gifs are quite a common thing I thought I would look for a something streak(y) related that would be appropriate for the early morning blog readers 😲😂

So, now you are drooling over the thought of bacon sandwiches…

This is what I have read…

Pathfinders by Cecil Lewis is one of the books that the Imperial War Museum are republishing. This new addition was originally published in 1944 and tells the story of each member of the crew in the Wellington Bomber P for Pathfinder. This was a really interesting and poignant book, my full review will be next week as part of the blog tour.

When I spotted a space on the upcoming blog tour for Italy Ever After by Leonie Mack I immediately grabbed it. Then realised I had double booked, so next Monday this will be one of the two reviews I will share. A great story about a mum and daughter, an ex-husband and a music teacher. Did I mention the music teacher is a hot one, he is also Italian. A fabulous story with a stunning location and some wonderful surprises and revelations. Loved this one a lot.

If you have read any Mary Wood novels then you know you are in for a treat. Secrets of the Jam Factory Girls is the second in the series and yes you should read the first. Well, you don’t have to as they can be read as stand-alones. This continues on from the first books as sisters continue their lives and their new positions, but my goodness the author really does not spare them or give them a moments peace. A heart-breaking, addictive story that has left me desperate to read the next one and find out what will happen next! Another Blog Tour book that I will post my full review of next week.

Where Crows Land by Paul McCracken is a first for me by this author and what a great intro to his writing it was. Carter, an ex-detective who went and is now a Private Investigator finds similarities to a past case and it is personal. It was the case that caused him to go rogue and lose his job. A murder is just the start in this urban gritty crime thriller and one that I found very addictive. At just over 200 pages long I was very surprised at how much detail there is in the story. Keep a look out for my full review in a couple of weeks.

What I listened to…

I cannot remember which blogger shared a post about Mudlarking by Lara Maiklem, but I remember listening to an extract of it. I loved the sound of it and borrowed it from my local library service via Borrow box. This was a brilliant audiobook to listen to as Lara explains about Mudlarks, they scour the tideline on the Thames looking for objects. She explains about the tides, her love of Mudlarking, history, dangers, curios and so may other things. Very addictive listening and one for those who love history, London History and finding relics, curios and trinkets from the past. One I would definitely recommend.
