My Week In Books (w/e 18th April) #booklove #bookupdates #MeAndMyBooks

Hello and welcome to my weekly catch up of the books I have read. An interesting reading week with 5 books to share with you.

This was a really interesting and suspense filled book, Geiger by Gustaf Skördeman is a spy thriller which is full of conspiracy, espionage, various government agencies and one that does include some historical references. This was a book that I did read slower and it has some really interesting characters. Keep an eye out for the Blog Tour.

I do like a good dystopian book that has a certain amount of “this could happen in real life” to it. The Nirvana Effect by Brian Pinkerton has created a story where virtual reality is more preferable to some than real life. This is a story that I do think has been thought about on a personal level with minimal tech usage. I really loved this one and it is another one to keep an eye on for the Blog Tour.

Ecology and sustainability is something that interests me so when I saw Is It Really Green by Georgina Wilson-Powell I was eager to have a read. This puts a balance on using greener items in terms of how they are produced and the overall benefits. I do think this is a book for the moment as technology and manufacture of products is ever changing. The book provides food for thought as regards to what we use, buy and create. Some interesting topics and a quick read.

This book is one for historical fiction lovers, Our Darkest Night by Jennifer Robson is set during WWII. A Jewish woman is smuggled from her home in Venice to live on a farm posing as a wife. A stunning and gorgeous story that had me hooked. At times heart-breaking and harrowing but also so addictive and beautiful. I loved this one a lot.

What a beautiful and also such a sad book to read. Gone: A search for what remains of the worlds extinct creatures by Michael Blencowe is kind of like a travelogue, a diary and also an education book as I followed the author on his travels to find the remnants and remains of extinct creatures. The author has researched, travels and documented his finds to create such a lovely book, it is so sad that there are animals that have died and that none of us will ever see again. My full review will follow in a couple of weeks.

There we go, 5 books this week although the two non-fiction were relatively quick ones. I do have quite a full couple of weeks ahead of me for reviews and Blog Tours and hopefully I will be able to keep on with the reading as well.

I did notice that I have now posted over 1,000 posts on my Blog since I started just over 4 years ago! That took me by surprise when I saw that. While I am on numbers I have read 70/200 books in my Goodreads Challenge and am ahead at the moment.

All done for this week,

Have a great week ahead

Take Care

Yvonne xx
