Welcome to my weekly round-up of bookish-ness. It is a day early as I have a Blog Tour review tomorrow. I have had this week off work, and also have next week, and it has been great to sleep in my own bed every night at night! I know this sounds so bad, but I do work night shifts 😂😂

I’ve had a chance to get a few things sorted around the house, a bit of re-organising so I will now not be able to find anything. It also seems like we have some nice sunny weather so we’ll see how long it lasts.

Right so let me show you what I read and also listened to this week…

A Cornish Summer by Catherine Alliott had a very nice slower pace to it and the main character Flora has been commissioned her ex-father-in-law portrait. There is a lot more to this story than meets the eye as family secrets gradually emerge. I enjoyed this story and it was nice to read a more sedate book.

Three Perfect Liars by Heidi Perks is an intriguing crime read that is told in a past and present format. I did like this but at times I was too impatient to discover how it was going to pan out. I liked the way the author gradually brought out each of the three women’s stories, and I wasn’t sure how things would link. A good read but one that didn’t quite hit all the spots for me but I would still recommend it.

What Lies Beneath is Adam Crofts latest book due out later this month. This is the first book in the Rutland Crime series and I really enjoyed it. There was a bit of history about Rutland that I can vaguely remember, and I have also been to Rutland Water, though many years ago. So reading this was interesting from a personal point of view, but also for the actual story itself. I liked the smaller police presence in this crime mystery read. Keep your eye out for my review on Publication Day.

As I write this post, its Saturday afternoon btw, I have not yet decided what I am going to rad next. I may choose another of my #20booksofsummer or a Blog Tour book.

I also finished listening to…

Grimm Tales for Young and Old narrated by Samuel West. This is a collection of 50 Tales chosen by Phillip Pulman from the Brothers Grimm. I loved reading these tales when I was younger and was a big fan, listening to them added an extra sinister edge to some of the stories and i loved it. Not all the stories worked for me, but most did. There were several I had not come across and some that I had forgotten about. A good selection of stories that have a mix of moral based stories as well as those of love, evil and of course the occasional Happy Ever After. I good version that I do think will appeal to young and old alike.
