My Week In Books w/e 9th June #MeAndMyBooks

This week has been a quiet week for me on Me And My Books. I read 2 books and started a third, listened to one audiobook. This week my reading concentration level has not been at it’s best and so I have only been reading in short bursts rather than hours.

So while the weather is hit and miss I have managed to finally move all my books from the lounge up into the boxroom. I have bought some more book cases and have managed to create a space I am very happy with. I will take photos and will include them in next weeks My Week In Books post. When the weather thas been nice I have been out in the garden, weeds seem to grow faster than the plants at the moment, but things are looking good out there.

Anyway enough of me gabbling on lets have a look at the completed reads this week.

WOLVES AT THE DOOR BY GUNNAR STAALESEN

Having read one of this authors books before and thoroughly enjoying it, so when I saw a chance to read another I jumped at the chance to join the Blog Tour. This is book #21 in the Varg Veum series. Varg is a Private Investigator who finds himself looking into an ol case. I have to say if you love Nordic Noir then you will love this. It is quite complex and at times uncomfortable to read at times. I will be posting my review next week .

THE SECRET – VIOLET’S STORY (LIFE ON THE MOORS)

As you can see there is no image available for this yet, well at least not on Amazon or Goodreads. This is the 3rd in the Life On The Moors Series and each of these books take one of the different characters and makes them the star of the story. I have not read the first book “The Letter – Kitty’s Story” but I do have it on my tbr. The second book “The Talisman – Molly Story” had me in tears and I absolutely adored it. This third book focuses on Violet and is an absolute beauty. This is another one that I am reading for the blog tour later this week.

MORTAL ENGINES BY PHILLIP REEVE

I decided to listen to this book rather than wait to watch this on Amazon Prime. I also wanted to listen to something that what different to the genres I was reading. I listen to audiobooks as I am in the garden weeding, doing the housework or decorating.

This is a great book to listen to. Narrated by Barnaby Edwards it is a fantasy novel and the author has created a post apocalyptic version of London. I loved the word-play on various place names. It has left me wanting to sit and read the books as well as watching the film.

I have decided to take part in #20BooksOfSummer Reading Challange and if you are wondering how I am getting with that… I have not started any of my 20 books yet although I am planning on reading my first this week.

Before I go I am going to leave you with a photo of some of the books before I started to organise and put on shelves properly…

That’s all for me, I hope everyone has a great week 🙂

  1. It makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one who hasn’t started my 20 books for summer!! Busy week for you, I love sorting out my books ❤️ Hope you have a good week x

  2. I’ve been moving books upstairs too. Because I’m running out of space downstairs. Then I realised I’ve definitely run out of space upstairs so I’m having to make the difficult decision of parting with some books because apparently moving to a bigger house isn’t an option. 🙄😂
