I am sharing my thoughts on “Dream On” by Erik Carter. This is a book the author brought to my attention a while ago now I am delighted to be sharing my honest thoughts on it. It is the second in the series and can be purchased at Amazon UK in eBook format.

Synopsis:

A brutal killer. A shocking theory. And a growing death count.

Special Agent Dale Conley is going out of his mind. He wants to catch this murderer so bad it hurts—because he’s never seen such gruesome crime scenes …

As a serial killer continues his vicious slayings, Dale scrambles to uncover the connection between the victims. Dale discovers that the deaths are related to a controversial theory, one so astonishing that it threatens to undermine the foundations of society. If Dale is going to stop the bloodshed, he’ll have to confront not only a ruthless enemy but also explosive ideas that could tear the world apart.

Dream On is the second book in the Dale Conley Action Thrillers Series.

If you like fast-paced action, sinister conspiracies, and loads of humor, then you’ll love this page-turning series, perfect for readers of Lee Child and Dan Brown and for fans of Indiana Jones and James Bond movies.

My Thoughts:

Special Agent Dale Conley’s speciality is in history and puzzles. He is teamed up with Gillian Spiro to solve two murders that where committed close together and have a rather significant connection that will use the knowledge that Conley has.

Well this certainly started with a bang, well not a bang, more knife across the neck, but you know what I mean. The gruesome death begins the story and was definitely something that caught my attention, from here on in I was hooked. After a dynamic start the story settles as I then met the characters and worked out their role in the story and it continued at a good pace.

The plot itself has biblical connection and is great for those who like conspiracy theory in their reading, mix that with the involvement of CIA and FBI agents and you get a feeling as to how the conspiracy aspect has a definite role to play.

Even though this is the second in this series, I didn’t feel confused as I hadn’t read the first as it works well as a stand alone. The character of Dale as a slightly humorous character is a great contrast against the not and ounce of humour Gillian. Their interaction plays well on the chalk and cheese of their characters with mis-timed and snarky comments that made me smirk.

This is a book that takes a slightly off the standard route in the crime and thriller genre. The BEI (Beureau of Esoteric Investigations) take in the weird and obscure cases that other agencies don’t touch. A series I am definitely recommending based on my first foray into this authors work.

If you like a fast paced, at times humorous, action packed crime, thriller, suspense read then this is one I would definitely recommend.

About the Author:

btrld3l583u9kfsved7md1osoe._SY200_Erik Carter is the author of two bestselling series of thrilling books. He can be found in Florida, either scratching on a notepad at the beach or pounding furiously on a keyboard, all in the effort of crafting exciting, can’t-put-down tales to take you on out-of-this-world adventures.

Following his esoteric and peculiar studies in public history and digital storytelling, it was only natural that his life’s path be equally esoteric and peculiar. His adventures have led him across America, where he has done everything from hosting a television show to shooting documentaries in the desert to teaching college. These experiences gave the background he needs for his greatest adventure—crafting gripping, edge-of-your-seat stories.

When he’s not spinning tales, you’ll find him at the gym, on a hike, contemplating sports cars, or enjoying the warm sand of the beach.

The Dale Conley thrillers are set in the groovy ’70s and feature a headstrong federal agent racing against the clock to stop the world’s most dangerous criminals.

The Barnaby Wilcox mysteries (with a thriller edge) reside in an 1880s spaghetti Western setting with a world-weary cowboy detective, who wants only a simple life of saloons and gambling, but who nonetheless heeds the call of righteousness to track down the ruthless outlaws infesting the Wild West.
