I am delighted to be sharing my thoughts on “Locked In” by GB Williams. This is the 2nd in the “Locked Trilogy” and is available in eBook format. It is published by Bloodhound Books and you can BUY HERE
Synopsis:
Do you love gripping and hard-boiled crime thrillers? Then try GB Williams’ unmissable Locked In.
Ariadne Teddington is having a bad day. Then she finds herself staring down the barrel of a gun.
Stuck in a bank robbery turned hostage situation, Ariadne keeps her head down and her mouth shut; because if there is one thing criminals hate more than the police it’s prison guards.
Trapped with a child, a policeman, and a robber on the edge, Ariadne desperately searches for a way out for them.
Can they all escape unharmed?
And when everyone is locked in, will anyone get out alive?

My Thoughts:
It is great to be back reading about Ari and some of the other characters from the previous book, and this one is a little different from the first. I would definitely recommend reading Locked Up as it gives invaluable insight into the characters and sets up a base for this story to continue from. Ariadne is having a bad day, it gets worse. Charlie’s day is not going according to plan either and Piper is just hoping he will still have a job at the end of what is going to be a very long day for all concerned.
A lot of this book is set during a bank robbery and Gail has done a great job of engaging and keeping my focus as the story unfolds. She has some very clever observations from Ari, as well as her thoughts that slowly builds up the sense of tension and suspense. At the same time Piper is dealing with his team and running an investigation with some higher ranks putting their tuppence worth in. Teasing little snippets are given as the story builds, but to be honest I was pretty hooked from the first page and Gail did a wonderful job of keeping me engaged right the way through the book.
As with her previous book, you do get a sense that the author has done the research for this. It has a good believable and realistic feel to it. The plot has, in my opinion, been very well-developed and had me turning the pages eager to find out what was next. The characters range from those you will love and those that are pompous, annoying or just plain nasty. The pace of the story gradually builds as the story flows to a grand finale style conclusion.
This is a book that I would definitely recommend to readers who like a good crime, mystery, thriller. As I suggested before it is better to read Locked Up first, it will give a better understanding to the characters.
